For the AD faithful, it looks like this is the end. After several painful months of rumors, whisperings and hopeful gossip, what seems to be the penultimate nail in Arrested Development’s coffin has been slapped into place.
“The fans have been so ardent in their devotion and in return … I’ve given everything I can to the show in order to try to live up to their expectations. I finally reached a point where I felt I couldn’t continue to deliver that on a weekly basis.”
Showtime had a deal on the table for the series - allegedly ordering two seasons of 12 episodes each - but it was contingent on Hurwitz staying on as showrunner. For Hurwitz, not so much.
