The Greatest Job in the World
24 February 2009 | News | No Comments
Many of you may have heard of The Greatest Job in the World - a brilliant tourism/PR move by Tourism Australia that has thousands of people submitting video applications for a chance to be the caretaker of Hamilton Island in the Great Barrier Reef for six months.
Count me in. You can view my application on Tourism Queensland’s site right now. It’s 58 seconds and 14 frames of me listing several of the 50 reasons why I’m the perfect candidate for the job.
I had heard about the job a while back when all the major media outlets were picking up the story and thought it was an interesting idea, but it wasn’t until I was driving home with the bullet points rolling around in my head that I realized the position was tailor-made for my experience and skill set (i.e. brilliant adventurer/zoologist who’s as good on-camera as he is behind it, loves writing and knows Internet multimedia like the back of his opposably-thumbed hand).
Hopefully the judging panel feels the same way when they announce the 50 shortlisted candidates on March 2nd.
